Cristian Barraza Killed in Car Accident on Highway 371 [Aguanga, CA]
Cristian Barraza Dies After Two Cars Collide on Highway 371 Near Barbara Trail
AGUANGA, CA (August 18, 2020)—A 27-year-old man died Saturday afternoon in a two-car accident on Highway 371 near Barbara Trail.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 27-year-old driver of the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek had lost control of the vehicle while tackling a curve in the roadway. Combined with his excessive speed at the time, it seemed to have been nothing short of a recipe for disaster.
Around 1:30 p.m., Cristian Gomez Barraza tried navigating a bend in the two-lane corridor while heading westbound on Highway 371; however, his Subaru crossed over the solid double yellow lines and slammed into an oncoming 2015 Kia Optima when he had lost control.
The Kia T-boned the Subaru, forcing it roughly 40 feet down an embankment before it overturned and came to a rest on its wheels.
Although Barraza, of Palm Desert, was wearing his seatbelt at the time, he died in the accident.
The 24-year-old San Jacinto man driving the Kia sustained serious injuries, prompting paramedics to transport him to a nearby hospital. His 19-year-old female passenger from San Jacinto suffered moderate injuries in the accident and required hospital attention, as well.
No other news related to this crash was available.
To the family and friends of Cristian Gomez Barraza, we would like to send our deepest condolences to you.
