Gang-Related Shooting Incident Cause Fatal Crash on Avenue 50 in Coachella
COACHELLA, CA (August 7, 2020) – Police confirmed that a car hit and killed a woman during a crash on Avenue 50 on Friday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near the Bella Canto neighborhood at approximately 7:30 PM.
Based on a report, a car-to-car shooting killed the driver of an SUV. Consequently, the SUV hit two pedestrians before it crashed into a brick wall.
As a result, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said that one of the pedestrians, a local teacher, died due to severe injuries. They did not yet release the victim’s name pending kin notification. In addition, they did not release the condition of the second pedestrian.
Police believed that the shooting that led to the crash was gang-related. However, an investigation is still ongoing.
