Martin Miele, 69, Killed in Crash while Leaving Scene of Accident on Main Street [Placerville, CA]
Hit-and-Run Accident Leads to Fatal Crash on Main Street near Forni Road in Placerville
PLACERVILLE, CA (August 7, 2020) – Police identified 69-year-old Martin Miele as the victim who died in a crash while leaving the scene of an initial accident on Main Street on Friday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Forni Road around 2:51 PM.
Based on a report, the Placerville resident fled the scene in his maroon 2005 Ford Escape after an accident near Main Street. As he drove up Forni Road, which has just one lane in each direction, he failed to control his vehicle and swerved to stay on the road. Consequently, he crossed over the eastbound lane and sideswiped a silver Dodge Ram. He then continued to travel off the north edge before he struck a tree.
Emergency crews rescued Miele who was pinned inside the vehicle. They transported him to Marshall Hospital, where crews pronounced him deceased upon arrival.
At this point, officials don’t have additional information to share with the public. However, they continue to investigate the collision.
We would like to express our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Martin Miele.
