Jimmy Easley Injured in Fatal Head-On Crash on Highway 299 [Lewiston, CA]
15-Year-Old Girl Killed, Man Injured in Crash on Highway 299 near Indian Creek Lodge in Lewiston
LEWISTON, CA (August 10, 2020) – Police identified Jimmy Easley as the victim who suffered injuries in a fatal head-on crash on Highway 299 on Monday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just west of the Indian Creek Lodge around 09:05 AM.
Based on a report, Easley of Groveton, Texas was driving a white 2015 Chevrolet 3500 pickup westbound on the highway prior to the accident. At that time, a 15-year-old female was driving a white 2003 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck eastbound on the highway. As both vehicles approached each other, the girl began overtaking a white 2015 3 axle semi-truck and then collided head-on with Easley’s truck. Consequently, her pickup became airborne and hit the left rear side of the semi-truck’s trailer.
As a result, responders said the girl died at the scene. They did not release her name pending kin notification. Easley suffered minor injuries and crews released him from the scene after treatment. The driver of the semi-truck was not hurt in the crash.
The CHP is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. However, they ask anyone who has further information regarding this collision to contact the California Highway Patrol (530) 623-3832.
