Vehicle Catches Fire in Multi-Car Crash on 80 Freeway near Fremont Street in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (August 11, 2020) – A fiery multi-car accident closed several lanes on 80 Freeway westbound near the San Francisco Bay Bridge on Tuesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just west of the Fremont Street off-ramp around 6:10 AM.
Based on a report, an unidentified car caught fire in the incident. However, officials did not yet release the exact number of involved vehicles.
As a result, emergency crews took a couple of involved parties to the hospital for treatment. In addition, they reported that the conditions of the victims were not life-threatening.
The Metropolitan Transportation Commission confirmed that the fiery crash blocked three lanes of traffic for over an hour. As a result, it narrowed coming off the Bay Bridge to only four lanes.
CHP officers don’t have additional information at this time. In addition, they continue to investigate the case.
