Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on 80 Freeway [Truckee, CA]

Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Semi-Truck on 80 Freeway near Hirschdale Road in Truckee

 
TRUCKEE, CA (August 9, 2020) – Police confirmed that a man died in a pedestrian accident on 80 Freeway eastbound on Sunday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Hirschdale Road at approximately 7:45 AM.
 
Based on a report, a semi-truck was headed eastbound on the freeway prior to the incident. As it approached the Hirschdale intersection, the 40-year-old victim walking on the shoulder stepped out in front of the semi. Consequently, the truck hit the victim.
 
As a result, emergency crews pronounced the victim dead at the scene. They did not release his name pending kin notification.
 
At this time, it is still unknown if impairment was a factor in the crash. However, an investigation is ongoing.
