Carlos Romo Struck, Killed by Car Near East 17th Street and Irvine Avenue
COSTA MESA, CA (August 11, 2020)—A 77-year-old man died Friday following a pedestrian accident near East 17th Street and Irvine Avenue.
According to coroner’s officials, Carlos Romo, of Newport Beach, has been identified as the fatal victim in the crash.
Reports say that as he began walking near the intersection of East 17th Street and Irvine Avenue, an oncoming driver struck him around 8:34 p.m.
Paramedics transported him to Orange County Global Medical Center shortly thereafter where he died about an hour later.
Per Costa Mesa Police Department Sgt. Mike Manson, the driver involved stayed at the scene for investigations, which ruled out impairment as a possible source of the crash.
