Seven Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 112 near Salt Creek Bridge in Port Angeles
PORT ANGELES, WA (August 4, 2020) – Police arrested Matthew Herz after a crash on Highway 112 on early Tuesday evening.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near Salt Creek Bridge at approximately 5:33 PM.
Based on a report, the 44-year-old man from Neah Bay was traveling eastbound when a Ford Expedition ahead of him slowed for a left turn near the bridge. Herz did not slow down and entered the westbound lane. Consequently, the Ford hit Herz’s vehicle.
There were two adults and three children in Herz’s vehicle. Crews discharged Herz and one passenger, Tasha N. Moss, 31, of Port Angeles, after treatment at Olympic Medical Center. They transferred another passenger, Jade A. William, 30, of Neah Bay, to an unknown hospital. Emergency crews sent a 10-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment. A 5-year-old boy from Port Angeles remained at Olympic Medical Center. In addition, crews at OMC also treated and discharged the driver of the other vehicle, William T. Lee, 67, of Port Angeles.
Police arrested Herz on suspicion of vehicular assault and reckless endangerment. At this point, officials are still investigating the crash.
