Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit by Car in El Cajon
EL CAJON, CA (August 7, 2020)—An elderly pedestrian died Wednesday night after being struck by a driver on Jamacha Road near Main Street.
According to El Cajon Police Lt. Jeremiah Larson, the incident happened around 11:35 p.m.
An investigation showed that a driver heading northbound on Jamacha Road struck the elder, who had been crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk.
The victim, described as a male in his 80s, received treatment at Sharp Memorial Hospital where he died shortly thereafter. However, his identity has been withheld pending family notification.
As for the driver, he or she remained at the scene, but details surrounding what drove the accident requires more investigation.
Intoxication has been ruled out as a possible factor, but anyone with more information should contact El Cajon Police at 619- 579-3311.
