92-Year-Old Patricia Coombes Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Yosemite Drive [Chico, CA]
Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Yosemite Drive in Chico
CHICO, CA (August 6, 2020) – Police identified 92-year-old Patricia Coombes as the victim who got killed in a pedestrian accident on Yosemite Drive on Thursday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Coombes was crossing the road using a walker when the incident happened. At that time, a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Jiang Junda struck her. Consequently, Coombes fell and hit her head.
Emergency crews said Coombes suffered severe injuries and died at the scene.
Based on an initial investigation, Junda said the sun was in his eyes and he didn’t see Coombes crossing the street. Police said he did not show any symptoms of intoxication and voluntarily submitted to a blood test. However, they asked anyone else who may have witnessed the collision to contact the Chico Police Traffic Division at 530-897-4970.
