Pedestrian Hit by Car Involved in Red-Light Crash on La Jolla Boulevard and Nautilus Street in La Jolla
LA JOLLA, CA (August 4, 2020) – A 77-year-old pedestrian and a 76-year-old driver suffered injuries in a crash on La Jolla Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Nautilus Street at approximately 3:23 PM.
Based on a report, the 76-year-old man drove his Toyota Prius through a red light. Consequently, it broadsided a Ford F150 of a 63-year-old man. As a result, the Ford rotated and struck the elderly pedestrian on the southwest corner of the intersection.
The paramedics said that the pedestrian sustained a fracture in his left leg and other serious injuries. In addition, the Toyota driver sustained a minor cut on his face.
The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating the crash. At this point, drugs or alcohol are not suspected as a factor.
