PHOENIX, AZ (July 21, 2020) – A hit-and-run pedestrian accident on West Van Buren Street near North 33rd Avenue Saturday night killed a 30-year-old man.
According to Sgt. Tommy Thompson, Josue Soto died at an area hospital after he tried crossing the street using a marked crosswalk.
Investigators determined that a white 2007 to 2010 Saturn Outlook SUV heading eastbound on Van Buren Street struck him.
In their investigation, detectives learned that the intersection has no traffic lights.
Unfortunately, the driver of the Saturn fled the area and continued eastbound.
