Pedro Gonzales, Frank Sifuentes and Carlos Gonzales Killed in Car Accident on Cornelia Avenue [Fresno, CA]
3 Killed After Car Collides With Tractor-Trailer at South Cornelia and Manning Avenues
FRESNO, CA (July 16, 2020) — Three men died following Tuesday’s broadside collision with a semi-truck at South Cornelia and Manning avenues.
According to reports, Pedro Gonzales, Frank Sifuentes and Carlos Gonzales decided to head to Laton-Kingston Park in a red PT Cruiser, which Frank was driving.
For unknown reasons, Frank did not stop at the two-way stop sign on South Cornelia Avenue. The vehicle subsequently drove into the side of a big rig shuttling animal carcasses.
Arriving crews found the PT Cruiser wedged between the duels and the axle of the tractor and the trailer, leaving the PT Cruiser significantly damaged. Additionally, the impact tore down a nearby power pole, and police officers found a diesel fuel leak, which slowed down the process of extricating those injured.
Authorities confirmed that only one PT cruiser passenger, a female, survived the crash.
The driver of the big rig, described as a middle-aged man, suffered minor to moderate injuries and is receiving treatment at the Community Regional Medical Center in downtown Fresno.
As for the three men, they died shortly after.
It’s still unclear if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident; however, a toxicology test should confirm these details.
Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the bereaved families and friends of Pedro Gonzales, Frank Sifuentes and Carlos Gonzales.
