Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car on Ray Road at Arrowhead Drive [Chandler, AZ]
Woman Dies in Chandler Pedestrian Crash
CHANDLER, AZ (June 19, 2020) — An 84-year-old woman died Thursday morning following a pedestrian accident on West Ray Road at North Arrowhead Drive.
The fatal pedestrian event happened around 7:30 a.m. According to Chandler police spokesman Sgt. Jason McClimans, the woman tried crossing West Ray Road at the intersection while the traffic light was green for both east and westbound commuters.
An oncoming vehicle struck the woman as she entered the crosswalk. Paramedics responded shortly thereafter and transported her to a hospital where she died from her injuries.
In their investigation, authorities ruled out speed and impairment as possible factors of the crash; however, detectives plan to examine the case more closely to confirm the accounts.
The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of family members.
