Brothers Killed in Dirt Bike Crash on Pavilion Center Drive Near Regal Mesa Drive [Las Vegas, NV]
2 Killed in Motorcycle Accident With SUV in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NV (June 16, 2020) — Two teen brothers died following Friday night’s dirt bike crash on Pavilion Center Drive near Regal Mesa Drive.
The fatal incident that killed a 14- and 18-year-old occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m. near Sig Rogich Middle School.
According to a witness, a white Range Rover attempted a left turn from southbound Pavilion Center Drive onto Regal Mesa Drive; however, the Honda dirt bike, which had been traveling north on Pavilion Center Drive at a high rate of speed, ended up striking the passenger side door of the SUV.
Per Metro Lt. Bret Ficklin, the motorcycle did not have any lights and speed might have contributed to the accident since the posted speed limit on this specific roadway is 30 MPH. In addition, this type of dirt bike has been designed and intended for off-roading, not so much for neighborhoods or city pavements.
As for the Range Rover driver, he or she remained at the scene and cooperated with police questioning. There had been no reports indicating that alcohol or drugs played a role.
Our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to the bereaved families and friends of the victims.
