Teen Killed in Rollover Crash near Rimrock Lake [Yakima County, WA]
SUV Overturned in Deadly Accident near Tieton Reservoir Road
YAKIMA COUNTY, WA (June 12, 2020) – Police confirmed that a teen died in a rollover crash near Rimrock Lake on Friday afternoon.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near Tieton Reservoir Road at approximately 2:00 PM.
The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office said that a 19-year-old female was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe down a grade on a narrow dirt road when it entered a curve. For an unknown reason, the driver lost control of the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle skidded sideways and rolled over.
Crews said the crash ejected a juvenile male from the SUV. As a result, they pronounced the boy dead at the scene after being pinned under the vehicle. However, police did not release his name pending kin notification.
They attended two other passengers who suffered minor injuries.
Police did not suspect impairment as the cause of the rollover crash. However, they continue to investigate the case.
To the family and friends of the victim, we would like to express our deepest condolences.
