Sanford Reed Dies in Pedestrian Accident on Monterey Avenue [Palm Desert, CA]
Sanford Reed Fatally Struck by Vehicles at Monterey Avenue and Hovley Lane West
PALM DESERT, CA (June 15, 2020) — A 25-year-old man died following Thursday night’s pedestrian crash at Monterey Avenue and Hovley Lane West.
According to a coroner’s report, Sanford Reed succumbed to his injuries at Eisenhower Medical Center just moments after the 10 p.m. accident.
Investigators confirmed that the first vehicle struck him in a marked crosswalk. Shortly thereafter, at least two more cars ran over him as he laid on the ground.
Authorities have yet to determine the ultimate cause of the crash. However, alcohol has been ruled out.
At least one of the drivers who struck him stayed at the scene, including a 26-year-old Palm Desert woman.
