Bryan Martinez Charged in Hit-and-Run Accident on Highway 101 [Carpinteria, CA]
Bryan Martinez Arrested after Series of Hit-and-Run Collisions in Carpinteria
CARPINTERIA, CA (June 12, 2020) — Three people required hospitalization following Monday’s hit-and-run crash on Highway 101 near Santa Monica Road.
According to California Highway Patrol investigators, Bryan Martinez drove a white pickup truck northbound on the highway. Investigators believe he deliberately struck at least nine cars between Carpinteria and Montecito around 8:00 a.m.
Martinez left the scene of the collision. However, his car was found on the right-hand shoulder near Olive Mill Road in Montecito. Reports say some construction workers tried detaining Martinez when he tried to flee on foot.
At this time, the charges against the 33-year-old are likely. Police officers booked him into the Santa Barbara County Jail following his arrest.
As far as those injured go, paramedics transported three patients to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with minor injuries.
Because the roads are unsafe enough as they are, taking into account the risks of car accidents can keep us safe. Be a defensive and responsible driver by putting distractions away, leaving a three-second cushion from the vehicle ahead of you and driving at a safe speed limit. Applying these tips can greatly carve down the risks of danger.
