6 Hurt in DUI Car Accident on Watts Drive and Lotus Lane [Bakersfield, CA]

Several Injured in Bakersfield Accident

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 9, 2020) — Several people sustained injuries following a DUI car accident on Watts Drive and Lotus Lane Saturday night.
 
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, three cars collided at the intersection. Investigators learned that an Oldsmobile sedan heading southbound on Lotus Lane failed to stop at the intersection’s stop sign. It subsequently collided with an eastbound Toyota sedan on Watts Drive before it struck a Nissan sedan that was stopped on the north side of the intersection.
 
Due to the impact, the Oldsmobile driver suffered major injuries. Paramedics transported the driver to a local hospital, where authorities determined that DUI contributed to the accident.
 
Police believe the Toyota driver who sustained moderate injuries, along with her two adult passengers, was also under the influence of alcohol.
 
As for the Nissan driver, she and her adult female passenger complained of pain and received medical care at the scene by firefighters.
 
At this time, the crash remains under investigation as police determine the charges for those who’d been impaired.
