Two Cyclists Seriously Injured in Accident on Friant Road [Friant, CA]
Vehicle Hits Two Bicyclists in Head-On Accident near Millerton Road
FRIANT, CA (June 9, 2020) – Two cyclists suffered serious injuries in an accident on Friant Road on Tuesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Millerton Road at approximately 6:20 PM.
The victims were riding east on Millerton Road when the driver of a Honda Civic traveling west lost control and drifted onto the shoulder of the road. As a result, the vehicle hit the two cyclists head-on.
Paramedics took the male cyclists to a local hospital for treatment of major to critical injuries. In addition, reports showed the pair suffered concussions and one may have an orbital fracture. The driver and three passengers of the Honda were not injured.
CHP officers believe speed or distracted driving may have played a role in the crash. However, they continue the investigation.
Follow traffic regulations and always give way to small vehicles like bicycles to avoid accidents. Above all, if you are a cyclist, always use the bicycle lane to prevent possible road accidents.
