Man Killed, Woman Hospitalized in Accident on 15 Freeway Near Mission Road [Fallbrook, CA]
Fatality Reported in Fallbrook Accident on 15 Freeway
FALLBROOK, CA (June 8, 2020) — A solo-vehicle crash Sunday, just off the 15 South Freeway near East Mission Road, claimed a man’s life and left a woman hospitalized.
According to authorities, a gold Lincoln Navigator traveled off the road for unclear reasons and tumbled down an embankment, about 100 feet below the interstate.
Arriving crews employed a rope system to rescue a 67-year-old woman from Hayward before transporting her to Palomar Medical Center with major injuries.
At the scene, paramedics found a 68-year-old Hayward man deceased upon arrival. Authorities believe he had neglected to use a seat belt during the crash since he’d been partially ejected.
In their investigation, authorities ruled out DUI as a possible driver of the accident; however, a closer examination of the event is well underway. If anyone has information for detectives, please call the California Highway Patrol Border Division Communications Center at (858) 637-3800.
