Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car in Oceanside
OCEANSIDE, CA (May 26, 2020) — A 25-year-old man died following Sunday night’s pedestrian accident at Highway 76 and College Boulevard.
According to Oceanside Police Department Sgt. Rick Davis, the incident took place around 10:30 p.m. Witnesses informed authorities that the driver of a vehicle was heading eastbound on the highway on a green traffic light when the vehicle struck the pedestrian crossing against a red hand signal.
Arriving officers found the pedestrian, a male, unresponsive and began performing life-saving measures.
However, despite these attempts, the man died due to his injuries. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police investigations, which ruled out impairment as a contributing source of the accident.
