Rancho Dominguez Dead, Eric Munson Detained in Long Beach DUI Car Crash
LONG BEACH, CA (April 13, 2020) — A woman died Saturday afternoon following a DUI accident on Canal Avenue near West Esther Street.
According to police, the collision happened around 4:40 p.m. just south of West Esther Street.
In the investigation, officers learned that a northbound 2003 Nissan Altima slammed into a parked 1995 Toyota Tercel. The impact forced the Toyota into the trailer of a parked semi-truck, killing the 56-year-old woman sitting inside the Toyota.
According to police, the Nissan driver ran a short distance after the crash, but officers arrested him. A passenger inside the Nissan stayed, however, and cooperated with police.
The coroner’s released information on the victim’s identity later, revealing that Rancho Dominguez died at the scene. Eric Munson, a 23-year-old from Long Beach, has been confirmed as the driver of the Nissan.
Police arrested Munson on charges of DUI and booked him in Long Beach city jail on $100,000 bail.
