Runaway SUV Strikes, Kills Driver in San Diego on Carmel Valley Road
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 6, 2020) — A runaway, unoccupied SUV managed to strike and kill a woman Friday along Carmel Valley Road near Mona Lane.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 11:00 a.m. in the 13600 block of Carmel Valley Road.
Officers confirmed that the driver neglected to place her SUV in the parking gear, causing her unoccupied vehicle to roll backward. However, as she tried stopping the car, the vehicle began coasting away and struck her, causing her severe head injuries.
Paramedics quickly arrived in the Torrey Highlands-area neighborhood and transported her to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The coroner’s office has yet to release her name due to a pending family notification.
