Driver Dies in 15 Freeway Accident With Semi-Truck Near Main Street [Hesperia, CA]
1 Dead, Another Injured in Hesperia Collision
HESPERIA, CA (April 2, 2020) — A driver died Tuesday morning following a 15 Freeway accident with a semi-truck near Main Street.
The fatal event that took place around 1:30 a.m. also left the passenger injured.
According to reports, authorities remain vigilant in their investigation of why a 2003 silver Honda Accord, occupied by two people, collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer combination.
The accident drew San Bernardino County firefighters to the scene, where they subsequently pronounced the unidentified driver deceased. From there, they requested an airship to airlift the passenger to a trauma center.
Investigators found the vehicle underneath the semi-truck and the two people trapped inside. After interviewing witnesses, authorities learned that the driver might have fallen asleep at the wheel as he or she was traveling at an average speed limit before the vehicle swerved to the right.
The driver of the semi-truck reported seeing smoke after sensing a sudden jolt while driving and pulled over.
During this time, authorities will be piecing together the details of the accident and encourage anyone with information to call 760-241-1186.
