BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 22, 2020) – A pedestrian sustained serious injuries in an accident on Bernard Street on Sunday evening.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the incident happened near Mount Vernon Avenue shortly before 7:30 PM.
Based on reports, the victim was struck by a car while walking inside a crosswalk. The victim crossed the street while the signal light was still red.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with major injuries.
Officers shut down the intersection during the investigation.
The driver of the car stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. He was cited at the scene for driving with a suspended license.
